Feb. 27, 2024: Diane Parker passed in the Broad Creek Care Center, an adjunct of TidePointe, in Hilton Head Island, SC on February the 10th, 2024.
Diane was born on November 12, 1933, in New Haven, CT to Fred and Lillyan Aspinall. She was raised on Long Island and graduated from Brown University (Pembroke) and the Rhode Island School of Design. She then had a long and distinguished career in the New York garment district designing ladies' clothes for Matti of Lin, Goldworm Knits and other stylish, luxury manufacturers.
Diane led an adventuresome life in Italy and Greece before returning to Bronxville, New York, where she met and married Joel Parker, her now-deceased husband. They lived in Bronxville for several years before retiring to Hilton Head Island. She had one daughter, Dana, who died a few years ago, and several beloved Wheaton Terriers. She was an accomplished skier who skied many mountains in Europe, particularly in Switzerland and Italy. In addition, she was a good golfer and water skier. Whatever she decided to do, she did well.
In addition to sports, her design training led her to a second career/hobby in painting. She mainly painted for herself and friends and was a regular attendee at art schools both in the US and in Europe where she constantly sought to learn more.
She is survived by her sister, Lynn Knupp of Naples, FL, a niece, Melissa Chevalier, two nephews, Jamie and Jeffrey Knupp, and six great nieces and great nephews.
Diane was known for her deep laugh. It put people at ease and always made friends comfortable. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held at the Providence Presbyterian Church, 171 Cordillo Parkway, on Hilton Head Island on Saturday, March 9th at 2:00 PM. All her friends will be welcome.
