In 2010, Gramatan Village presented him with its annual award for outstanding community service, as did the Counseling Center of Southern Westchester in 2015.
He greatly enjoyed golf, the Metropolitan Opera, bridge, and travel in the US and abroad. Prior to his death, he was writing a monthly column on Bronxville history for MyhometownBronxville, the local online newspaper.
