Apr. 12, 2017: John Lodge Cady passed away on April 3, 2017. He was born on July 17, 1922, to Joseph P. Cady and Mildred Lodge Cady in Boston. He grew up in Milton, MA. John married the love of his life, Margaret Foley, on August 8, 1944.
He graduated from Harvard University in 1943 and Harvard Law School in 1948. A lifelong learner, he received an LLM from New York University Law School in 1954.
John was a decorated lieutenant in the Army Air Corps in Italy. He piloted 24 missions in the B-24, completing his service and returning home to finish his studies.
Nationally recognized as an expert in corporate taxation, John worked for McGraw-Hill for 30 years, serving as senior vice president and general tax counsel. He and his wife lived in Bronxville for 54 years, where he was he was actively involved in the community, most notably as village attorney and chairman of the Bronxville Adult School for a decade.
John was a member of the board of directors of Siwanoy Country Club. He was also a member of the Bronxville Field Club, the Hillsboro Club, the Knights of Malta, and the Parish Council of St. Joseph's Church.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Steve Cady, and sister, Joan Cady Mandarino. He is survived by his wife, Margaret, his son, Robert, his daughter-in-law, Rebeque, and his grandson, Taylor.
A wake was held on Friday, April 7, at McGrath & Son Funeral Home in Bronxville. Mass was held on Saturday, April 8, at St. Joseph's Church in Bronxville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Andrus Children's Center.
