Nov. 29, 2017:  Peter Bates, born in London in 1945, died at his home on Amelia Island on November 11.  He had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in April of this year and, until the end of September, had maintained a good quality of life.

Peter moved from England with his wife, Frances, and their eldest son to Westchester in 1978. He will be remembered as being active on the village paddle tennis committee, and he served on the board of governors of the Bronxville Field Club for a number of years.

Peter worked in Manhattan at various advertising and marketing agencies until his retirement at the end of 2014, when he and his wife retired to their house on Amelia Island.
