By Pat Dunn, Director of The Writing Institute at Sarah Lawrence College
May 30, 2018: The Writing Institute at Sarah Lawrence College’s fifth annual Publish & Promote Your Book Conference will take place on Saturday, June 23, from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm on the college’s campus.
Prominent New York City literary agents, major publishing house editors, and social media and public relations experts will be speaking at this comprehensive symposium designed for serious writers who want to get their work published.
Interactive panel discussions will include Finding the Best Literary Agent for Your Book, What an Agent Does, The Role of the Editor and Publisher, and Book Promotion. Optional pitch sessions, during which participants have the rare opportunity to discuss their work, one-on-one, with a diverse group of agents and editors representing many genres, themes, and audiences, are a highlight of the conference.
The panel moderators are Cynthia Manson, agent (Cynthia Manson Literary Agency); Caitlin Alexander, editor; and Daniel Berkowitz, digital editor (Writers House).
The panelists confirmed-to-date are Jennifer Carlson (Dunow, Carlson, & Lerner Literary Agency); Mark Gottlieb (Trident Media Group); Merrilee Heifetz (Writers House); Jeff Kleinman (Folio Literary Management); Josh Kendall (Little, Brown & Co., Mulholland Books); Christine Pride (Simon and Schuster); Laura Van Der Veer (Little A); Brian Feinblum (Media Connect); Michael J. Seidlinger (author and social media editor); and Sara Wigal (JKS Communications). See the list of agents and editors who will make pitches during the afternoon session at sarahlawrence.edu/writing-institute/conference.html.
Lynda Loigman, a past attendee, described the conference as "an invaluable experience." She added, “It was at the conference that I was lucky enough to meet my agent, who sold my first novel, The Two-Family House, to St. Martin’s Press. I am so grateful to the people at The Writing Institute for putting together such a well-planned, practical, and inspiring day that truly changed the course of my writing career."

Bronxville Public Library
The Bronxville Public Library traces its origins back to 1875, when it was a small lending library housed in a room attached to the “Bronxville Model School.” The Library was officially chartered in 1906 and moved into the Village Hall Building. The needs of the library grew with the town and, in 1942, a new standalone building was erected, which is where the Library is today. Over the years, the Library was renovated and expanded to meet the needs of the community.
The Library has wonderful resources for adults and children and offers a comfortable and relaxing environment. The Library also houses a fine art collection, consisting principally of Bronxville painters and sculptors.
The Library offers special events, art exhibitions, and programs for adults, young adults and children. All events are open to the public, unless otherwise indicated.
