April 2, 2025: In honor of national poetry month, MyhometownBronxville.com will be featuring poems every week of April written by Bronxville poets. The poem below is by Marjorie Mir.
BOOKS I KEEP NEAR ME
A mid-morning of uncertain light,
asking nothing.
I am in the company of poets
gathered beside this chair.
I am reader and medium,
they, one young, one gone
now twenty years,
my pleasure to bring them together,
imagine their delight
in each other;
in turns playful, reflective,
discovering and recalling,
immediate and cosmic.
In silence, a colloquy.
In solitude, a meeting.
“Yes,” we say. “Oh, yes.”
“Say those last words again.”
