Harold James Wellings, Former Bronxville Resident and Deacon of The Reformed Church, Dies at 61 August 23, 2017

Sep. 20, 2017: Harold James Wellings, 61, formerly of Bronxville and New Preston, CT, passed away on August 23, 2017, at Good Shepherd Specialty Hospital in Bethlehem, PA.
A memorial tribute to his exceptional life and dedication to helping others will be held on October 7, 2017, at noon at the New Preston Congregational Church in New Preston, CT. A reception at the church will follow the service.
Born in Yonkers on October 14, 1955, and a graduate of Henry Abbott Technical High School in Danbury, CT, he served in the Navy as an electrician's mate. The grandson and son of electricians, Harold started his own company, White Electric, Inc. in 1987 in White Plains. The company served the greater Westchester, Connecticut, and New Jersey areas. He sold the company in 2010. After consulting for the new owner of White Electric for five years, in 2015 he and his wife, Lynn, moved to Longboat Key Florida, where they pursued their dream of an early retirement.
Harold was the founder and first president of the Westchester Electrical Contractors Association. Harold volunteered and served for 20 years as an auxiliary policeman for the City of White Plains.
A member of The Reformed Church in Bronxville, he was a deacon and a member of the buildings and grounds committee there. His hobbies were fishing, his cars, and long Sunday drives in the country.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn De Wellings; his step-daughters, Bevin Clark (Steve), Robin Bratone, and Erin Childs (Raymond); his father, Hy (Harold) McGowan; his aunts, Marion Franklin (George) and Martha Bailey, and their respective families; twelve grandchildren; and two great-grandsons. Harold was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Wellings DeLorge (1930-2016).
The family wishes to thank Sarasota Memorial Hospital and the ICU nurses there and Good Shephard Specialty Hospital in Bethlehem, PA.
