Jan. 24, 2018:  Frank G. Foley, 83, died peacefully in Falmouth, Maine, on January 20, 2018, with Simone, his devoted wife of 55 years, and his five beloved daughters by his side.

He was born in 1934 in Far Rockaway, Queens, to Max Henry Foley and Kathryn (McTigue) Foley. Frank grew up in New York City and attended Collegiate School. He spent the WWII portion of his childhood in Trinidad, where his father, an architect, designed military bases across the Caribbean. He played football at and graduated from Trinity College (1956) before serving in the US Air Force.

Frank married Simone Gurry in 1962 and together they raised their girls in Bronxville. He was noted in the community, among other things, for saving many lives in December of 1992 when in a fire broke out in the Eastbourne condominium. Despite living on the second floor, he put his own life at risk, climbing to the top floor and banging on the neighbors' doors to get them out.

Frank spent his career working for Owens Corning. The family spent every possible moment boating on Long Island Sound and took memorable vacations usually involving a long car ride in their Ford wagon.

Frank and his siblings, Mary Ada, John, and Jean, begat a sprawling, close-knit family of cousins, and he reveled in being Uncle Frank. He took great strength from his Catholic faith and pride in his Irish heritage.

Frank always had a joke and twinkle in his eye and loved nothing more than to regale family, friends, and strangers with a story. In 2002, Frank and Simone moved to Ocean View in Falmouth, Maine.

Frank is survived by his wife, Simone, of Falmouth, his sister, Jean F. Rizzo, of St. Simons Island, Ga.; daughters, Michele Fischer ( Rob) of Westfield, N.J., Jacqueline Bromage (Steve) of Cape Elizabeth, Elizabeth Gray (Ted) of Point Lookout, NY, Kathleen Collins (John) of Cape Elizabeth, and Suzanne Foley of New York City; 13 grandchildren, William and Andrew Fischer, Ella, Owen, and Wyatt Bromage, Reilly, Flynn, Frankie, Johnny, and Nate Gray, and Shea, Mason, and Avery Collins; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings Mary Ada, John, and half-brother Max.

The Foley girls thank their extended family for their tremendous love and support.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Martyrs Catholic Church, 266 Foreside Road, Falmouth, on Saturday, January 27, at 10:00 am.

A Celebration of Life gathering will also be held in New York later in the year.
