Working Gardeners Club of Bronxville is Donating Dogwood Trees in Celebration of the Club's 100th Anniversary: Special Tree Dedication Ceremony on May 30th

May 21, 2025: On May 30, 2025 at 4pm, the Working Gardeners of Bronxville will be dedicating six new dogwood trees in celebration of the Club's 100th anniversary.  This dedication ceremony will take place on Dogwood Hill at 5 Garden Avenue (Bronxville Village tennis courts) and is open to the public.

The Working Gardeners Club was founded in 1925.  According to a history written about the Club, in 1948 the Working Gardeners "decided they needed a project to build up enthusiasm and cooperation among its members, and the Village needed some concrete recognition of the 50th anniversary of its founding.”

At that time, the Working Gardeners were asked to supervise the planting of dogwood trees on "the hillside" and a local man named Aldred Beaujean donated some dogwoods. In addition, the Club secured donations. These funds enabled the Working Gardeners Club to plant fifty trees. The name “Dogwood Hill” was unanimously selected and the dedication was held on May 30, 1950.

Now many years later, all the original trees are gone from age and blight, and the same Working Gardeners Club will be dedicating six new dogwood trees on May 30, 2025, in celebration of the Club's 100th Anniversary.

All are invited to attend this very special event.
