Have You Noticed The Construction Along Palumbo Place?

Aug. 19, 2020: Have you noticed the construction along Palumbo Place?

Palumbo Place is the one-way northbound street between Midland Avenue and Gramatan Avenue. The street runs behind Bronxville Village Hall. There is a parking lot and building for the Bronxville Department of Public Works (DPW) off Palumbo Place and an entrance to the Fire House building.

Palumbo Place has been closed since the spring of 2020 so that the village can build a new DPW parking lot and a new DPW facility. The current DPW facility has not been updated since 1942 and cannot accommodate modern DPW equipment, which has had to be left outside in the rain, sleet, and snow. The new 9,000 square foot facility will be able to house and repair the kind of modern machinery used today.

The DPW project is progressing nicely. The new parking lot (pictured above) is nearly completed, and the new DPW facility is underway and is expected to be completed by August of 2021. Palumbo Place will be closed until the building is completed.
