Feb. 8, 2023: Your home may be leaking energy without your realizing it! Often homeowners have no way of knowing they’ve got gaps in their home’s fittings, insufficient insulation in certain areas, or an improperly calibrated heating system. Want to learn how to make your home more energy efficient? Help is here!
This winter, Bronxville is partnering with Sustainable Westchester, a nonprofit consortium of local municipalities, to help residents utilize and benefit from clean, renewable energy. This Energy Smart Homes program provides access to information about clean energy technologies and financial incentives, NYSERDA certified contractors, local resident testimonials and one-on-one assistance to help you make your home more energy efficient.
The first step is a home energy audit conducted by a specialized contractor. Home energy audits are often free, and the Village of Bronxville can provide all the resources you need to get started! A professional contractor who completes a thorough home energy audit of your home will produce a detailed report, certified by NYSERDA, that suggests steps they can take to tighten the “envelope” of your home. It identifies exactly how much less energy you’ll use and what savings you’ll realize.
In most cases an energy audit won’t cost you anything, or you can include a request for more complex tests for a one-time fee. Many of the upgrades you make to your home in response to the suggestions made by your contractor will qualify for rebates and tax credits.
To fully understand these incentives, Register for “Leveraging Rebates and Incentives for Home Energy Upgrades,” a webinar hosted by Sustainable Westchester on Thursday, February 16th at 7 p.m. Join Assemblyman Chris Burdick and State Senator Pete Harckham to learn about state, utility and Inflation Reduction Act incentives for the weatherization and electrification of your home. Speakers will include NYSERDA certified contractors and utility representatives.
Rather than watching helplessly as your energy bills increase, contact us to learn more about the easy step of conducting an energy audit. If you’re already scheduling an energy audit or installing new clean energy equipment, email us to confirm you are receiving the maximum discounts and rebate benefits and put your name on the Village list of residents working to decrease our environmental footprint.

The Bronxville Green Committee is a volunteer organization under Village government. We work with the Trustees and Village staff on programs that promote clean energy initiatives and sustainable ways of living. Our programs include The Bronxville Giving Garden, a community garden whose produce is donated to local groups; Take Back Day, when we collect items to be recycled; and Pollinator Pathways, which encourages adding native plants to our gardens. We believe everyone can make a difference by adopting simple, sustainable practices in daily life so we can work together to protect what we love -- our families, our homes and our town.
