Dec. 20, 2017:  The annual Bronxville Christmas Pageant, first performed 103 years ago in 1914, will be held on Christmas Eve, Saturday, December 24, at 5:30 pm on the hillside of The Reformed Church of Bronxville on Pondfield Road.

The pageant has been delighting villagers of all ages for generations. The organizers of the pageant are co-chairs Sarah Normand and Ruth Walter. “We have been so impressed with the ecumenical nature of the pageant and with the commitment and enthusiasm of all the volunteers who make this such a great community tradition in Bronxville,” said Sarah Normand.

“If you are new to the village or a longtime resident, please come in rain, snow, or dry weather to see live animals, the Nativity scene re-enacted, angels on high, and lots of shepherds,” Sarah added.

Parishioners from all seven Bronxville churches participate on a rotating basis to make up the cast of the living Nativity. The audience sings carols, and members of the clergy from the seven churches perform readings.

“Children can watch Mary ride in on a live donkey and settle in the manger surrounded by live sheep. Last year we had the added excitement of a camel for one of the kings to lead, which really was a wonder,” said Ruth Walter.
