Destination: College to Host Annual “Best Night of the Year “on June 11 with Special Guest NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell: Link to Purchase Tickets

April 30, 2025: Destination: College has been providing academic support and assistance with all aspects of the college admission process to high school athletes at underserved schools in Westchester County for close to 20 years. Founded in 2006 to support one sports team at Mount Vernon High School, the 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization now works with all three high schools in the Mount Vernon Central School District, powered by the tremendous efforts of its over 50 volunteers and caring and talented staff. Destination: College provides support for some 300 students both in high school and college every year.
Said Board Chair and founder Nancy McKenna “we are so proud of the student athletes we have helped over the years and the wonderful things our post-college students are doing. They are attorneys, doctors, bankers and educators. Some of our former students are now volunteering with us as mentors for our college students which is such a gift.”
Since 2011, Destination: College has held an event to celebrate its coaches, volunteers and student-athletes. Scholarships are awarded to stand out students on each team as well. Starting in 2018, all scholarships have been named in honor of former Destination: College Board member Jeff Cooney, who was a long-standing member of the DC family.
Commissioner Roger Goodell, who played football with Jeff at Bronxville High School, was an early contributor to the Cooney Memorial Scholarship fund and has been a loyal supporter of DC since then. DC was thrilled and honored that the Commissioner agreed to attend this years “Best Night of the Year” to be held at Siwanoy Country Club on June 11 at 6:30 PM where he will be interviewed by members of this year’s Cooney Scholarship class. Long time DC volunteer and former broadcaster Mary Civiello will be moderating the interview session.

“This year’s event, which our coaches have called “The Best Night of the Year” promises to be an extraordinary one” said McKenna, who urges all supporters of DC to join the coaches, volunteers and students for this special event.
Ms. McKenna stated that DC was beyond grateful and proud that the Commissioner, who is a renowned and extremely busy person would make time for their students.

Organized in 1982, the Bronxville Beautification Council (BBC) is a not-for-profit organization administered by a volunteer Board of Directors. Boulder Ledge Garden Club
Founded in 1966, the Boulder Ledge Garden Club is rooted in a mission to inspire a deeper appreciation and love for gardening and flower arranging. The club is dedicated to fostering and promoting interest and knowledge in gardening.
The Club maintains Bronxville’s Bicentennial Park and other civic gardens. In 2019–2020 the club raised $18,000 to replace trees in the village, reflecting its active role in community beautification. It also holds garden therapy projects and educational garden trips for members.

Bronxville Giving Garden
The Bronxville Giving Garden is a community-centered garden that donates organic produce to Eastchester Community Action Partnership in Tuckahoe and Community Service Associates in Mount Vernon. The garden is also a gathering place where school children and volunteers can discover the joy of tending plants and growing food.

The Bronxville Green Committee is a volunteer organization that is part of the Village of Bronxville. It proposes and implements environmentally sustainable programs in our community.
