Bronxville Youth Community Fund Holds Second Annual Paddle Tennis Tournament

March 8, 2023: Whoosh! Bam! Thwack! Swoosh! These are only a few of the sounds made at the Youth Community Fund’s ("YCF") successful second annual paddle tennis tournament at the Siwanoy County Club on February 12th.
The tournament attracted over 55 participants from Bronxville, Tuckahoe, and Eastchester, with all levels welcomed. Entrance fees were $20 each, with all money raised going to YCF’s 2023 grants to nonprofits that support area youth.
Paddle racket in one hand and hot cocoa in the other, the paddle tournament was a huge success.
Participants were provided with loads of sweet treats and beverages, such as donuts, muffins, chips, cupcakes, brownies, and more. In addition, participants were kept warm by drinking hot cocoa and standing near fire pits. Volunteer DJ Hayden Garbarini also hyped up the crowd with popular tunes.

The tournament began swiftly. Players were arranged into teams and went to their assigned courts. After intense matches played in a round-robin format, the finals finally arrived and Jack Reilly and Virginia Hail emerged victorious! Their prize was Chocolate Chunker cookies donated by Michael Knox.
Massive thank yous go to Siwanoy Country Club for sharing the paddle courts, Dave O’Shaughnessy for organizing the teams, Cece Heraty and Katie Shah from the Youth Community Fund, and to all those who attended the event and supported a wonderful cause.

The next Youth Community Fund event is a screening of the movie Angst on March 6th at 7pm at the Bronxville Picture House. Angst is a film designed to raise awareness about anxiety and includes interviews of kids, teens, experts, and parents.

Organized in 1982, the Bronxville Beautification Council (BBC) is a not-for-profit organization administered by a volunteer Board of Directors. The mission of the BBC is to enhance and maintain the natural and man-made beauty of the village of Bronxville, with an emphasis on the downtown business district.

Boulder Ledge Garden Club
Founded in 1966, the Boulder Ledge Garden Club is rooted in a mission to inspire a deeper appreciation and love for gardening and flower arranging. The club is dedicated to fostering and promoting interest and knowledge in gardening.
The Club maintains Bronxville’s Bicentennial Park and other civic gardens. In 2019–2020 the club raised $18,000 to replace trees in the village, reflecting its active role in community beautification. It also holds garden therapy projects and educational garden trips for members.

Bronxville Giving Garden
The Bronxville Giving Garden is a community-centered garden that donates organic produce to Eastchester Community Action Partnership in Tuckahoe and Community Service Associates in Mount Vernon. The garden is also a gathering place where school children and volunteers can discover the joy of tending plants and growing food.

Bronxville Green Committee
The Bronxville Green Committee is a volunteer organization that is part of the Village of Bronxville. It proposes and implements environmentally sustainable programs in our community.

Bronxville Boy Scouts
The village of Bronxville has a long tradition of scouting. “The troops and packs of Bronxville have maintained the finest scouting organizations and have taught the boys of the Bronxville area to be leaders and outstanding members of the local, national and global communities.”
