Community Spirit On Display at The Community Fund’s 3 on 3 Youth Basketball Tournament
Players enjoyed a DJ, lunch and beautiful weather

Oct. 19, 2022: More than 100 teens from Bronxville, Eastchester and Tuckahoe enjoyed competition and community building at The Community Fund’s 3 on 3 Youth Basketball Tournament on Sunday, October 16th. The tournament was held at the Tuckahoe Main Street Basketball Courts and welcomed 26 teams in boys’ and girls’ divisions from grades 6-12. To qualify, players were required to reside or go to school in Bronxville, Eastchester or Tuckahoe.
The tournament began with a coin toss by Tuckahoe Mayor Omayra Andino, Bronxville Mayor Mary Marvin, and Eastchester Town Supervisor Tony Colavita, and featured a DJ, beautiful fall weather, and free hot dogs and hamburgers with officers from the Bronxville, Eastchester and Tuckahoe Police Departments.
The tournament was organized by Bronxville resident and Community Fund Board Member Chris Bush who grew up playing on the courts as a teen. He wanted to continue the tradition of the 3 on 3 tournament as a vehicle to bring area kids together.
“I first played basketball at this park in the seventh grade and would end up making friends for life," said Bush. “We competed with and against each other on sports teams into college and beyond. This park is a place that everyone can always go back to."
Located on the corner of Main Street and Marbledale Roads, the Tuckahoe Main Street Courts were refurbished in 2017 from a grant by The Community Fund and feature new equipment and two lighted, full-size courts.
Players also enjoyed a special appearance by Tuckahoe resident and Harlem Globetrotter, Maxwell Pearce who also played on the courts growing up.
Tournament winners included Garth Elite: Joseph Morris, Allen Pimentel and Marcus Rolon of Eastchester (boys’ 9-12th grade division); BXV Warriors: Justin Costanzo, Theo McMurray and Tom Ruhanen of Bronxville (boys’ 6-8th grade division); and Lady Broncos: Genevieve Dimitri, Lulu Heathwood, Lindsay Lugano and Clarie Melchionni of Bronxville (girls’ 6-9th grade division).

Organized in 1982, the Bronxville Beautification Council (BBC) is a not-for-profit organization administered by a volunteer Board of Directors. The mission of the BBC is to enhance and maintain the natural and man-made beauty of the village of Bronxville, with an emphasis on the downtown business district.

Boulder Ledge Garden Club
Founded in 1966, the Boulder Ledge Garden Club is rooted in a mission to inspire a deeper appreciation and love for gardening and flower arranging. The club is dedicated to fostering and promoting interest and knowledge in gardening.
The Club maintains Bronxville’s Bicentennial Park and other civic gardens. In 2019–2020 the club raised $18,000 to replace trees in the village, reflecting its active role in community beautification. It also holds garden therapy projects and educational garden trips for members.

Bronxville Giving Garden
The Bronxville Giving Garden is a community-centered garden that donates organic produce to Eastchester Community Action Partnership in Tuckahoe and Community Service Associates in Mount Vernon. The garden is also a gathering place where school children and volunteers can discover the joy of tending plants and growing food.

Bronxville Green Committee
The Bronxville Green Committee is a volunteer organization that is part of the Village of Bronxville. It proposes and implements environmentally sustainable programs in our community.

Bronxville Boy Scouts
The village of Bronxville has a long tradition of scouting. “The troops and packs of Bronxville have maintained the finest scouting organizations and have taught the boys of the Bronxville area to be leaders and outstanding members of the local, national and global communities.”
