Junior League of Bronxville Provides Outstanding Support to Four Local Organizations During National Volunteer Week

May 12, 2021: The Junior League of Bronxville (JLB) did not miss out on its opportunity to celebrate National Volunteer Week (April 18-24th). This is because, like so many other nonprofits, the JLB continued to do what it does best - mobilize its members to volunteer year-round in support of those in need within the JLB's service areas of Bronxville, Eastchester, Mount Vernon, Tuckahoe, and Yonkers.
Throughout the month of April, just like many other months that reflect its members' commitment, the JLB chose to support four local organizations that reflect the diversity of the needs that exist within the JLB's service area.
As occurs twice every month, the JLB partnered with Feeding Westchester's Mobile Food Pantries in Mount Vernon by supporting two distributions through fiscal underwriting and hands-on volunteering that distributed fresh produce to those facing food insecurity on April 3rd and 23rd.
On April 21st five member-volunteers took stylish luggage sets and kitchen utensils, donated by the JLB to local community partner Westhab in Yonkers, to help families moving out of shelters into more-permanent housing. This JLB C.A.R.E.S. Project called "Starting A New Journey" will enable 12 families to move with the dignity they deserve as they take a step forward in their new life and was Captained by member Nadia Mondésir.
The JLB also reached out and helped its local, four-legged friends by encouraging all members to donate food, toys, and supplies for the JLB C.A.R.E.S. Project "Helping Paws." On April 27th and 28th 8 members delivered these donations to both the Mount Vernon and the Yonkers Animal Shelters led by member and project-Captain Jennifer Palladino.
As the celebration and month came to a close, JLB President Michelle Schoulder reflected, "The Junior League of Bronxville is so fortunate to be made up of women that value the impact of volunteering all-year long. They ignite and inspire change for those we serve. Beyond that, our League is run fully - from community outreach to communications, from finance to fundraising - by these amazing volunteers. Our members are truly mobilizing our mission!"

Organized in 1982, the Bronxville Beautification Council (BBC) is a not-for-profit organization administered by a volunteer Board of Directors. The mission of the BBC is to enhance and maintain the natural and man-made beauty of the village of Bronxville, with an emphasis on the downtown business district.

Boulder Ledge Garden Club
Founded in 1966, the Boulder Ledge Garden Club is rooted in a mission to inspire a deeper appreciation and love for gardening and flower arranging. The club is dedicated to fostering and promoting interest and knowledge in gardening.
The Club maintains Bronxville’s Bicentennial Park and other civic gardens. In 2019–2020 the club raised $18,000 to replace trees in the village, reflecting its active role in community beautification. It also holds garden therapy projects and educational garden trips for members.

Bronxville Giving Garden
The Bronxville Giving Garden is a community-centered garden that donates organic produce to Eastchester Community Action Partnership in Tuckahoe and Community Service Associates in Mount Vernon. The garden is also a gathering place where school children and volunteers can discover the joy of tending plants and growing food.

Bronxville Green Committee
The Bronxville Green Committee is a volunteer organization that is part of the Village of Bronxville. It proposes and implements environmentally sustainable programs in our community.

Bronxville Boy Scouts
The village of Bronxville has a long tradition of scouting. “The troops and packs of Bronxville have maintained the finest scouting organizations and have taught the boys of the Bronxville area to be leaders and outstanding members of the local, national and global communities.”
